On Monday the 3th of August and in the office of the municipality of Korthi, the 2nd meeting of the peripheral network of VA2EL was held. Korthi is a municipality of 2000 habitants located at Andros Island. It participates at the POLISNET Network of the “Learning Cities”.
Present at this meeting were:
- The Mayor Yannis Glynos,
- Nicos Manettas, President of the Municipality Council,
- Yannis Rigas, Vice-Mayor,
- Dimitrios Griparis, Counsillor,
- George Zertopoulis, Counsillor,
- George Benas, Counsillor,
- Chryssa Papaioannou, Counsillor,
- Fillippos Diamantis, President of the Local Council of Korthi,
- Leonidas Stathakis, President of the Local Council of Kohylou,
- George Glynos, President of Local Council of Ormos Korthiou
- AAE: Christos Doukas, Helen Alexandropoulou
On behalf of AAE Christos Doukas informed the participants about the aims and the activities of the VA2EL Project.
Participants were interested in participating in the portfolio process. They argued that many activities during their duties as councilors are not visible to the local communities, are implicit and not valued as learning capabilities even from the councillors themselves. Also the personal learning plans can lead to supportive training schemes. A general discussion followed concerning the conclusions of the synthesis report of VA2EL. The conclusion of the meeting is that councillors in small municipalities in geographically peripheral locations could be motivated by the portfolio process. It may be a step to the opening of their life pathways in a valuable learning environment.
